REFLECTION

With this being the last blog of the semester I decided to reflect on how the semester. Throughout the semester I have learned a lot about fiction writing and poetry. For me not to be a great creative writer, I think I bettered my techniques on how to write and get started during class. I liked the fact that we had discussions about the readings, because it helped me understand the reading more if In was unclear about a situation or story.

I would say my favorite part of the class is when we were reading "Blood Dazzler." I really enjoyed those series of poems because of the details and creativity it had. All the poems talked about a situation or aspect during the hurricane Katrina epidemic. I really liked the author's technique of how she turned the hurricane into a person. He details about the hurricane were extraordinary. It gave me an insight on what the hurricane did and the destruction it caused to peoples homes and lives. It really made me feel the pain and hurt that the people who were involved felt. This series of poems were so rich in detail and made me want to continue to read, or pick up another one of her books.

When I got feedback on my poems, it said be more detailed in most of them. I felt that I wanted the professor to tell me how to be more detailed. If I was to write a poem, Iwould write it in what I thought was detailed but I would want to have feedback on how to do it.

Overall I really enjoyed this class, especially since I am not to fond of poetry. I like the fact that we could express our opinions on all the stories and see how others felt. I also like that we were able to put our ideas together during discussions to come to conclusions. I had a great semester and I hope I do well in this course!
